Technology That Cares

Wearable-free safety and wellness check-ins that respect independence.

Reducing The Long Lie

The most significant risk to an independent adult is remaining incapacitated and undetected following a fall or acute health event, a clinical phenomenon known as "The Long Lie". Staying unmonitored for over 12 hours increases mortality rates by 50%. Depending on the frequency of alerts programmed, Calling Bear may help to significantly reduce the chances of the caree remaining incapacitated.

High-Acuity Alerting

Because standard notifications are routinely suppressed by iOS "Sleep" and "Focus" modes, the Critical Alert entitlement is a mechanical necessity for our service. It ensures that "Failure- to-Respond" (FTR) emergencies bypass device silence to alert the "Safety Group" immediately a Calling Bear contact has gone unanswered.

Explicit User Consent

User safety and privacy are paramount. Every responder must explicitly opt-in to receive emergency alerts. During the onboarding process, all users and responders perform a mandatory "Test Alert" to ensure the specific emergency frequency is recognized and the device volume is correctly calibrated.

Bypassing Silence

Calling Bear utilises Apple's "Critical Alert" infrastructure to ensure emergency responders are physically alerted even when their devices are muted or in "Sleep" mode.

Standardised Security

Our notification logic aligns with safety standards utilised by similar accredited "Lone Worker" and "Medical Alert" applications.
